From TFL to HelpIndiaBreathe: Two Years, Two Crises, One Promise

In 2020, a small group of volunteers began operating under the name TFL, doing whatever was needed for families hit hardest by the first COVID-19 wave: shelter for those who'd lost work, food supplies, direct financial aid, and medicines delivered by hand. Over 1,000 individuals were helped this way, entirely free of charge.

Then came the second wave, and with it, a different kind of emergency. Oxygen — not food or shelter — became the thing families couldn't find. Hospital beds filled up within hours. The team rebranded to Help India Breathe in April 2021 to reflect a sharper focus: sourcing oxygen concentrators and cylinders, coordinating hospital bed placements, and mobilizing volunteer doctors to areas with no medical infrastructure left standing.

Both waves taught the same lesson: when a family is in crisis, the last thing they need is friction — whether that's a slow-moving bureaucracy or a platform quietly taking a cut of the help they're trying to raise. That lesson is the entire reason this crowdfunding platform exists, and why 0% platform fee isn't a marketing line — it's the same promise made in 2020, just at a bigger scale.
