From TFL to HelpIndiaBreathe
Two COVID-19 waves, one promise that never changed — help reaches people without a cut taken out of it. This is the full history, founder statement, and where the platform is headed next.
“We didn't set out to build a platform — we set out to find one more oxygen cylinder, one more hospital bed. Everything we're building now exists because people trusted us with both their money and their worst day.”
TGTushar Gupta Founder, HelpIndiaBreathe
Wave 1 — operating as TFL
2020 – early 2021When the first COVID-19 wave left families without income or supplies, a small volunteer effort under the name TFL began arranging shelter, food, clothing, direct financial aid, medicines, and physical support for anyone who asked.
Wave 2 — rebrand to Help India Breathe
April 2021 – onwardAs the second wave brought a nationwide oxygen crisis, the organization renamed itself Help India Breathe and refocused entirely on medical infrastructure — sourcing oxygen concentrators and cylinders, arranging hospital beds, and mobilizing volunteer doctors to underserved areas.
Phase 3 — Future Vision
In progressHelpIndiaBreathe is evolving into a full 0% platform fee crowdfunding platform — 100% of funds routed directly to beneficiaries and hospitals, with no deductions at any step. Beyond individual medical emergencies, the mission is expanding into free healthcare access, community health camps, and educational support for the children of families we've already helped once.
