Inside a Verified Campaign: How We Check Every Medical Estimate

When you see a 'Verified Medical Estimate' badge on a campaign, it means a specific process happened before that campaign was ever visible to donors.

First, the organizer submits a hospital-issued treatment estimate — not a personal write-up, an actual document from the treating hospital showing projected costs. Second, our review team cross-checks the hospital's existence and, where possible, confirms the patient is an active case there. Third, we verify the organizer's identity against the relationship they've claimed to the patient (family member, spouse, self).

We don't independently audit every rupee of every medical bill — that's not realistic for a small verification team reviewing campaigns within a 24-hour window. What we do guarantee is that the story matches real, checkable documentation before we let a campaign ask the public for money.

If something looks inconsistent — a mismatched hospital, an estimate that doesn't match the stated condition, an organizer who can't confirm their relationship to the patient — the campaign doesn't go live until it's resolved. This is also why every campaign is required to show its verification status honestly. An unverified detail, like an 80G tax-exemption status, is displayed as pending rather than assumed.
